Building an internal due-date ladder ahead of auditor deadlines

Set preparer dates five to ten working days before the auditor’s formal ask so queries still fit inside fieldwork.

If the auditor asks for a revenue cut-off pack on 15 February, an internal due date of 15 February guarantees overtime. Document request tracking works best when each line has two dates: the auditor’s and yours.

A simple ladder

  1. Preparer draft — ten working days before auditor date
  2. Internal reviewer — five working days before
  3. Upload / hand-off — two working days before
  4. Buffer for query — auditor date itself

Adjusting for Chinese New Year and holiday clusters

Hong Kong calendars compress January and early February. Move confirmation corridors and inventory count planning earlier when holidays remove chase days. The ladder is not bureaucracy; it is how open items stay visible while people are actually in the office.
